St Andrews
St. Andrews is an iconic building of Stranraer which many families in the town have connections to.
We are proud to be able to offer this familiar and comforting space to families for their funerals, memorial services, weddings and any other gatherings. This welcoming space comfortably seats up to 400 people and is suitable for religious or non-religious services. There’s also the option to include any music and photographic tributes the family would like in order to remember their loved one in a way that is completely personal to them. Whether a family decides on a large public funeral or a more intimate private service, St. Andrews is an ideal venue where we will strive to accommodate the family’s wishes in any way we can.

The building was built in 1896 and originally called Ivy Place United Free Church. Later, in 1929, after joining with another local church, it became St. Andrews Church.
The traditional B-listed church has served the town under different names since. Both as a place of worship and a centre for local community groups to come together. In July 2024, John McNeil Funeral Directors were delighted to open the doors of St Andrews to the public again. This has allowed the public to once again gather in an iconic local building which has been used by families of Stranraer for many generations.
Since re-opening, St. Andrews has hosted funerals and celebration of life services, as well as weddings and concerts on occasion. It will continue to serve as a familiar place for the Stranraer community to gather for years to come.
